What are the most surprising facts about Granby?

- Granby was founded in 1904 along the route of the Denver, Northwestern & Pacific Railway, and incorporated one year later.
- The town was named after Granby Hillyer, a Denver lawyer who later served as the United States Attorney for that city's district.


Do you have any famous current, former, or historic residents?

Doc Susie, one of Colorado's earliest woman doctors, who lived from 1870-1960.


What is the biggest annual event in Granby?

Granby's 4th of July Parade and Party in the Park. Last year we had over 4500 folks line out downtown to cheer on our veterans, floats, and motorized vehicles. The parade is followed by our Party in the Park including a BBQ, live music, kids games, and more!


What do you want visitors to discover in your community?

The great outdoors! Granby serves as the gateway to Arapahoe National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Granby is currently taking steps to attract new business to our downtown.


How many family-friendly activities are offered in your community?

The Chamber sponsors a large number of family-friend activities including the adult/youth rodeos in June; an Easter egg hunt; an awesome 3 day ice fishing tournament; a scarecrow contest; an annual holiday tree lighting party; and a Trick or Treat Main Street event for Halloween.

Granby Recreation Department has year round activities for all age groups, including youth and adult sports, youth day camp, adult enrichment and fitness classes, senior activities, skiing classes, soccer, special events and pre-school programs.

Check out Brickhouse 40 if you're looking for a 5 star dinner or Maverick's Grille for an awesome bowl of green chili and authentic Coloradan fare.

Superman, because his speed and power would allow us to accomplish well more than we ever could alone!
